I have chosen the Alzheimer's Association for my charity this year
Alzheimers and dementia are both things that run in my family. While I know there isn't a cure for these, there is a lot of recent research that has been done to slow the disease progression. My hope is that this research can continue to develop and we can help more people in the future.
Watching my dad and his decline as he entered the last phase of his life was really difficult. There are so many layers to the grief and loss that we have to go through when we lose someone, but it sometimes gets amplified when you keep losing them over and over again.
At the very least, I want to raise some awareness about how difficult it is to navigate grieving. It is ok for it to not be ok. It isn't a linear process.
And watching someone go through it is really difficult too.
